After two days of braving the Melbourne heat, the third day of Sail Melbourne International (Friday, 1 December 2017) posed a whole new range of challenges to sailors with temperatures dropping and the first part of the much talked about Victorian weather front moving in.

Australia’s up and coming sailing talent will join the action at Sail Melbourne International from today, Friday, 1 December 2017 with the Invited Classes scheduled to race from Friday, 1 December through to Sunday, 3 December 2017. Racing kicked-off at Royal Brighton Yacht Squadron on Wednesday, 29 November with the Olympic class sailors contesting their penultimate day of racing today.

It was another day of extremes at Sail Melbourne International for the second day of Olympic class racing (Thursday, 30 November 2017). More high temperatures and a hot breeze blowing off the land did not allow the sailors any cool off out on Port Phillip. A full day of racing was completed in most classes though with gains and losses across the fleets.

Recently appointed Australian Sailing Performance Director Iain Murray has challenged the nation’s top Olympic class sailors to show their full array of skills at Sail Melbourne, which starts today, describing the regatta as the first important marker on the journey to next year’s World Championships and beyond.

Racing has kicked-off at Sail Melbourne International 2017 with the Olympic classes heading out on Port Phillip on what was a scorcher of a day one. Around 35 degrees and a dying morning breeze made for a long wait onshore before the sea breeze filled back in and racing got underway.

International teams have started to arrive in Melbourne with only one week to go to Sail Melbourne International 2017 to be held out of Royal Brighton Yacht Club from 29 November to 3 December 2017.

The world’s best sailors have arrived in Melbourne for this year’s Sail Melbourne International Regatta (29 November to 3 December 2017) with racing out of Royal Brighton Yacht Club starting tomorrow, Wednesday 29 November 2017.

High-flying 49er team David Gilmour and Joel Turner will use Australia’s premier dinghy boat regattas, Sail Melbourne and Sail Sydney, to push the limits of their fledgling partnership after a year of somewhat unexpected success.

The Australian Sailing Team, including its Olympic medallists, will head to Melbourne at the end of November for the 2017 edition of the Sail Melbourne International Regatta. This year, the event will be hosted out of the newly renovated Royal Brighton Yacht Club from 27 November to 3 December 2017.
