Olympic Classes - Entry Process Update

Preparations for the 2015 ISAF SWC – Melbourne are in full swing with Invited Classes Regatta early bird registrations closed, 168 entries and 62 days until the first race.

The most significant change for 2015 is the change in venue. The ISAF SWC – Melbourne has recently moved to the St Kilda Sailing Precinct (the St Kilda Sea Baths and the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron). This change in venue is an exciting step for us all, bringing our sport to the public.

Another change that is new for us is the direct involvement of ISAF. This year ISAF are controlling the Olympic Classes Regatta and as part of that they begin with inviting the top 30 competitors on the ISAF ranking scale for each class. Once these competitors have accepted or rejected their invite they will then open entries to everyone on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

Ideally we would have liked to have seen these entries released straight after Qingdao but as with any new system delays may occur and as such ISAF are now pleased to release the top 30 competitors who have been invited to this year’s event. After this initial batch of entries, ISAF will open entries via their website to all competitors. We would like to thank all competitors for their patience as ISAF are committed to providing high quality regattas to all athletes.
